Things are getting worse day by day. All the US Companies are breaking their ties with the world’s second largest smartphone manufacturer, Huawei one after the other. Google, Qualcomm, Intel, Broadcom, and ARM together with SD Association had already cut ties with Huawei. Recently, we have come to know that JEDEC, as well asWi-Fi Alliance, have also banned Huawei. They are responsible for certifying devices with WiFi and components with RAM. Huawei ban is devastating the company making things more difficult for them.

Huawei Ban From Wifi Alliance & JEDEC Is Temporary

Another US-Based Company, Wi-Fi Alliancethat’s located in Austin, Texas has temporary suspended Huawei.  In order to be a member of this association, any company needs to be an “implementer” or “contributor”. If any company is an implementer then it can implement unmodified WiFi chips that have already been previously certified by the association. Furthermore, all such companies that are a part of the association as an implementer can use certified product logos and access final documents of each specification.
On the other hand, being a contributor, a company can only access the development and testing of each standard. The Chinese giant Huawei was not only implementer and contributor, but it was also sponsoring the association in an exclusive group of 14 companies. Wi-Fi Alliance has announced that the membership status of Huawei has been “temporarily restricted” until the entire dispute settles down.
Moreover, JEDEC which is responsible for standardizing RAM components has also cut ties with Huawei due to the immense pressure that had built up. Let’s see what happens next. Stay tuned!!!
